We’ll call this my “non-engagement” engagement story…
Last week I shared a story on Instagram about my extensive little white dress collection. Last summer, I was preeeetty sure Sean was going to propose. We had a trip planned to Charleston, (travel guide coming soon!) and to be completely honest, I’m difficult to surprise so let’s just say I was pretty sure it was coming-my LWD wardrobe was prepped. Many say that takes the fun out of it-but honestly I don’t know how he could have caught me off guard.
Fast forward to two weeks before our trip, and we’re out to dinner. He says he needs to talk to me about something and I probably responded with a snarky and defensive “what?” He had to push back our trip (come to find out later my ring wasn’t ready)! I pushed back on him, but then agreed. The weekend we rescheduled ended up being the October hurricane, so we finally settled on a weekend in December.
For this getaway, I bought a bunch of white dresses, thinking I would wear one each night in Charleston. Just in case, you know? My favorite thing about prepping for a vacation (especially this one!) is buying new outfits, and having a great excuse to make the purchase. The dresses I bought were very spring/summery-not just because of the color, but the styles and fabrics as well. The good thing is, I love them as much now as when I originally bought them!

This dress is one from my stash-it’s my all-time favorite little white dress and it’s back in stock this year! I love the open back, flared sleeves, and the price tag (under $100)! It comes in black, and there’s also a top (blouse) version! The best part about styling dresses for summer is that you can pair with sandals, wedges, or espadrilles for day, and transition evening with strappy heels, pumps (love the lilac color), or even stick with wedges for the evening. Check out my sandal roundup later this month for splurge vs. steal pairs for spring and summer! Add a bag (love it with this bamboo bag or a fun tassel clutch), and some disk earrings
I rounded up some more of my favorite white dresses for the season-great for trips, bride-to-be’s, or just because! I left the price so you can shop my picks by price point-lots of under $100 options! My $89 lace dress I wore for a fall wedding now comes in 8 spring colors-check out my post to see how it fits!
