Happy Thursday, ladies! One of my favorite life mottos? “Treat yourself!” And my other favorite? “You deserve it!” Seriously though-you freaking deserve it! We all work hard, and we all definitely deserve a reward every once in a while! Being in a transition period of life, I’ve found that I work, work, work, and most things I do are with a purpose other than “just because,” or “to relax.” If you feel this way, you’re soo not alone! Today I decided to list out a few ways I treat myself that have no other purpose than just that-taking the time to relax and do something out of my ordinary routine. I hope some of these ideas inspire you to take a few minutes to yourself and give yourself the time you deserve. PS: A reward does not necessarily mean breaking the bank-all these ideas are affordable and/or free!
Mani/pedi: Either at home or at a salon! I opt for mani/pedis regularly because it is relaxing to me! Sometimes I opt for an extra 10 minute massage. I always put my phone away to totally zone out!
Body lotion, face mask, teeth whitening: whatever makes you feel great, take the extra 5-10 mins! I love this whipped body lotion and this mud mask!
Have happy hour on a week night: Wine optional! One or two nights a week Sean and I will have a little appetizer before dinner. I just throw together whatever’s in my fridge. It just feels indulgent! I use my cheese board and usually throw on some combo of cheese, crackers, a dip (hummus or something fun I sampled at TJs!), nuts, and some veggies.
Try a new fitness class: Put on your fave leggings and sneaks, and book yourself for a fun workout class! Most studios offer the first class for free or for a steep discount, so it’s pretty much a win-win! I love Pure Barre, Orange Theory, Title Boxing, and I love Kickboxing!
Order from a meal delivery service: We order Blue Apron boxes once a month! The meals are excellent, (the only thing we haven’t loved is the salmon) and the cost averages out to about $10/meal/person. They are relatively healthy, easy, and fun to cook together.
Cozy night in: Light your favorite candle (pumpkin atm), put on a show or movie, and bake something sweet.Something about lighting a candle is so relaxing to me. My favorite healthy sweet are these cookie dough balls. If you’re looking for something a bit more indulgent, these made-from-scratch brownies are phenomenal!
Wander around a store in town: My favorite places to browse without purpose are Homegoods, Target, and Marshalls! Treasure hunting helps fuel my creativity, and sometimes (always!) I find something cute! My favorite under $5 treat? A cute, funny, or witty new mug! Grabbing a Starbucks and browsing a bookstore is always fun, too! On my list to read: Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis and When Life Gives you Lululemons by Lauren Weisberger.
Ice Cream night: I mean, what’s better? I love making ice cream sundae bars, complete with brownies, whipped cream, and fun toppings! An ice cream run followed by Netflix always works, too!
Plan a Trip: I don’t mean pull out your wallet and start charging the CC! Sometimes Sean and I go on tangents about random places we’d love to visit one day and just dive in to researching! It’s a fun way to give your mind a vacation without spending a dime!
