Happy first full week of 2019, friends! The last few weeks were a holiday/travel whirlwind! I am so happy to get back to a “routine” this week. I love to travel, but it’s nice to be home, eat healthy, and hit reset mentally and physically. I’ll be sharing more of my plans for 2019 including what’s to come for the blog and Fioré over the next few weeks. Today OOTD posts are back starting with this layered denim shirt look!
However, I will hint at what’s going on BTS for 2019 fashion on Kelseylynnb.com. My focus is on how to get MORE out of your current wardrobe. Looking back on the year (and in reconciling my bank accounts), I have come to realize how caught up I got in the blogger hustle of always “needing” new, new, new. Let’s be real, I wear the SAME 10-15 items on rotation all winter (and summer, spring, and fall)! I want to be more focused on quality of clothing over quantity, and getting the most wear out of what’s in your closet.2019 is all about new and interesting ways to style your capsule wardrobe pieces.
How to Layer a Denim Shirt:
Denim shirts are the perfect layering item because they are so versatile and multi-seasonal. You can easily recreate with what’s already in your closet!

This particular denim shirt has distressing details which I love-even though distressing is usually for dressing down, I think this outfit actually does the opposite and dresses it up! This shirt was gifted to me by the cutest local boutique Knupp Kouture. Knupp Kouture is local to Fairfield for all my CT ladies, but is also shoppable online! This dress is also from Knupp Kouture!
I layered this denim shirt over a black turtleneck (also love this black bodysuit) and paired with my go-to moto leggings. Speaking of closet staples-this whole outfit is made of staples! You can accessorize this outfit however. I chose a fun red beanie ($13) and leopard booties (mine are sold out but a similar pair by the same brand are linked here)!
Other Chambray Outfit Ideas:
- layer over a maxi dress and knotted in front
- layer under a long cardi and leggings
- tucked in to belted white jeans with wedges
- denim on denim: bottoms should be the darker shade.
- half tucked in to cutoff white shorts
- layered over a cami and tucked in to a leather mini skirt
- tucked in to dress pants with pumps
