One of the best days of my life was the day Sean and I got engaged in Charleston last December. You can read more about that day here! We had the best day together celebrating the beginning of a new chapter for us as an engaged couple. Sean surprised me with dinner reservations that evening at what quickly became a special place for both of us: Zero George Street. From the meal to the staff, we truly had one of the best meals of our lives that night. This charming boutique hotel quickly rose to the top of my bucket list of places to stay. This past week, the dream of staying at Zero George Street as a guest became a reality, and today I’m sharing all about the 5 star experience!
Zero Restaurant + Bar:
First, I need to backtrack and elaborate on the best meal of our lives at Zero Restaurant + Bar. The tasting menu experience at Zero Restaurant is unlike any we’ve ever tasted or experienced. The Chef’s Tasting Menu starts with a palette cleanser + champagne and just proceeded to impress from there. The tasting menu offers an optional wine pairing: either the house or reserve. We ordered both pairings (one each), so we could try each wine that was offered. Sean and I were impressed from first sip to last bite. The dish that stands out the most to me was the Beef Wellington! However, every single bite + sip was delicious!

Tip: Kathryn Hall Cabernet is a must-try wine at Zero George Restaurant + Bar. It is pricey but honestly the best glass of wine I’ve ever had.
Tip Part II: They also offer an intimate cooking school experience that is definitely on my list of “musts” with Sean! It is three courses with paired wine.
Tip Part III: This dinner is an culinary experience and well worth every penny! I highly recommend it for a special occasion or celebration because it is more expensive than an average meal.
Zero George Street Hotel Review

It’s hard to figure out where to start because everything about my stay at this hotel exceeded expectations. Zero George Street Hotel is truly an experience from the minute you step through the gates. Zero George is comprised of 5 historic properties, carefully restored and preserved by the hotel. The location preserved the old world, mesmerizing charm of Charleston, yet modernized with comfortable luxury. The staff welcomed us with a Charleston map and champagne. The service was truly above and beyond. For example, upon check-in, the staff offered to keep breakfast open an extra few minutes for us to eat after our early morning arrival. Truly no detail or service was left forgotten.
Rooms + Amenities at Zero George Street Hotel

We were in the spacious Garden suite with living area and pullout couch, large master bedroom with a spacious dressing room and desk area, and luxury bathroom. The rooms were modern and clean, yet comfortable and so easy to cozy up. The room included indulgences such as glass bottles of water, robes + slippers, and leather luggage tags during our stay. Other amenities included Malin + Goetz bath products, Nespresso machine, Zero George customized collar stays (brought those home for Sean), and a heater built in the bathroom ceiling.
Zero George offers its guests many additional upscale amenities that enhance the daily guest experience:
European Breakfast: We began each day with a complimentary continental European breakfast, which included my favorite of Callie’s Hot Little Biscuits! These are a must-try in Charleston. Other features included proscuitto and brie, fresh berries, and homemade quiche.
Bikes: Zero Adorable turquiose bikes that totally match the pictureseque scene of Charleston are available for guests to explore the city on wheels (highly suggest taking your own bike tour)!
Evening Wine + Cheese: We ended the day with the evening wine and cheese pairing which is my perfect way to wind down before dinner.
If you have plans to explore the beautiful city of Charleston, I highly recommend considering Zero George for your stay. If you are a foodie, Zero Restaurant + Bar is a must-try! Charleston is my number one favorite city, and experiencing it with Zero George as my home base was a 5 star experience!
