An all black outfit is always a good idea-from a LBD to high waisted pants: black is chic, slimming, and always appropriate regardless of the occasion! Black isn’t the first color I think of it when it comes to “holiday colors,” but this outfit is definitely one of my favorites I’ve styled of the season!

How to make a black outfit festive:
Similar to this post where I talked about how to make a white outfit appropriate for winter, black can totally be made appropriate for the holidays if the right pieces are selected. Again, it’s all about mixing textures that allude a certain feeling/desired look. These black satin pants (similar on sale under $50)make for a great base for an outfit because the texture is shiny and silky, which to me means happy and bright vs. stuffy (is it just me haha)?! I paired them with this velvet top (50% off right now) that has a little ruffle to the sleeve for some interesting texture. Velvet is a rich fabric that has started popping up in all seasons, but traditionally because of its rich texture is a winter fabric. Accessories make a big difference to this outfit: I chose to add my “festive” red by pairing with this Brahmin bag. I also added a stack of bangles (each individual linked below), some studded pumps (under $50) for a little extra edge and a red lip to finish off the look!
